In working with children/teens, Diane involves parents as an integral part of the work.  She considers the child in the context of the family system and works to improve communication and family relationships .

Diane takes a holistic approach to counseling, considering a person’s mind, body and spirit.  She believes a healthy balance of these aspects of one’s life bring a person to where they will feel and function at their best.   Diane assists her clients with identifying and expressing feelings, identifying unmet needs and assisting in problem solving around how to best meet these needs, with developing a positive cognitive/belief system while building on skill deficits and coping skills.   Additionally, she helps to identify past trauma that may be contributing to present symptoms and uses EMDR to facilitate healing. Diane operates from a psychodynamic framework but utilizes techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy,  solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and expressive therapy and EMDR.

Diane has additional training as follows:

  • EMDR (Levels 1 and 2)

  • Mindfulness through Mindful Schools (mindfulschools.org)

  • Grief/Suicide Support Group Facilitator through American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP.org)

Diane considers it a great privilege to witness the growth and progress her clients make in achieving their goals and in bringing their lives into a better balance.
